Biography

Stathis Vatanidis

Born in Athens. Studied at L. Art of New York. Member of the Chamber of Fine Arts. In 1988 awarded second prize , Kreonidis Gallery, participated in a group exhibition under the auspices of O.A. Vatanidis, has taken part in more than thirty solo exhibitions in Greece (Skoufa, Expression, Eirmos, Epsilon, Epoches, Art World, Fatolas, Chrisa Galleries etc.) as well as abroad (Gloria Gallery Nicosia, K. Gallery London, Nuovo Aleph, Milan) and has participated in many group exhibitions. His work can also be found in the Vorres Museum, Basil and Elize Goulandris Foundation Museum, the Moschandreou Art Gallery of Mesolongi, in the collection of A.A. Hatzioannou and in many private collections both in Greece and abroad. Vatanidis’s work is above all personal as his paintings depict brief vignettes of small everyday moments, transfixed in motion, the humans in them naturally shining through as stars. The figures show their bulk and sturdiness, anchored calmly in the space where they live.
